The Oregon Chapter organized a meet-and-greet event for Fulbright visiting students and scholars, for Fulbright alumni, and friends of Fulbright. The event was held at the Mills International Center, University of Oregon at Eugene on Nov 23, 2019.
There were diverse representations at the event: Visiting students pursuing Master’s or Doctoral degree at University of Oregon, visiting students in 9-month academic program at UO, visiting scholars in the FLTA program at UO and Pacific University at Forest Grove, former and current board members of the Oregon Chapter, and US undergraduate students attending Pacific University who are interested in applying Fulbright program.
The main goal of this event was to provide Fulbrighters in Eugene-Springfield area get a chance to meet and share their academic and living experiences. It was also emphasized in the event description that both international and US Fulbrighters, and anyone interested in participating Fulbright programs are welcome.
Participants shared a lot of information and resources how to deal with academic and living issues. Division of Global Engagement and Mills International Center of the University of Oregon also shared the resources they have.
A US Fulbrighter who did a visiting program in Argentina in 2005-2006 also came and shared the story.
The two visiting Fulbright scholars at Pacific University at Forest Grove heard about this event, and came with their seven American undergraduate students who are interested in participating Fulbright programs. Fulbrighters was really excited to meet the promising undergraduate students.
